Our engaging classroom lessons cover all required topics outlined in the State of Ohio’s Driver Training Curriculum. Classes are led by experienced, state-licensed educators who use a mix of:
Hands-on learning techniques
Videos & handouts
Small group projects & games
Expert guest speakers
At the conclusion of the course, students will take the Ohio Driver Training Exam. Per state law, students must pass with a minimum score of 75% to receive their Certificate of Completion and be able to advance to in-car driving lessons.
Expectations:
Students must be 15yrs 5 months by the FIRST day of class.
Attendance is required for every scheduled class.
Students should arrive 5-10 minutes early.
A driving permit is NOT required to start classroom instruction.
In-Vehicle Training
After students complete 24 hours of classroom instruction, they can begin 8 hours of Behind-The-Wheel (BTW) training with a state-certified instructor in a school fleet vehicle.
Four (4) two-hour lessons
Lessons gradually increase in difficulty as skills improve
Students will practice real-world driving techniques in various road conditions
Scheduling In-Car Lessons:
Lessons are scheduled based on:
- Time spent practicing with a parent/adult
- Current driving skill level
- Permit expiration date
Drives are scheduled every 1-2 weeks to allow students time to practice newly learned skills before advancing to the next lesson.
Pick-Up & Drop-Off:
All in-car lessons begin and end at Inspired Driving Academy: 617 Carle Ave, Lewis Center, OH. (unless scheduled for school pick-up from an Olentangy district school)
Behind the Wheel Booking:
Parents/students are responsible for calling to schedule the four drives included with tuition. We recommend calling at least three months in advance of first drive to ensure availability.
Before Your First Lesson:
Students should log at least 20 hours of practice driving with an adult.
Valid driving permit & tennis shoes required for every lesson.
Arrive on time & ready to drive. A $50 no-show fee will apply for missed lessons without prior notice, per the signed Training Agreement.
