If you’re 21 or older and fail your first driving test (road or maneuverability portion), Ohio law mandates that you complete an Abbreviated Adult Driver Training Course before retesting—unless you’ve already completed a full driver education course within the past 12 months.
You may choose one of the following paths:
4-hour state-approved online course + 4 hours behind the wheel with a licensed instructor OR
4-hour online course + 24 hours driving with a licensed adult (21+)
*NOTE: If opting for the 24 hours of driving with a licensed adult, the following conditions apply:
1) Driving cannot exceed 4 hours per day
2) 24-hour affidavit must be completed (BMV form 5789)
Inspired Driving Academy highly recommends the online school “Too Cool Traffic School”
After completing the 4-hour online course, students can begin in-car training with our certified instructors.
Tuition: $449
Includes:
- Two 2-hour driving lessons (4 hours total) spaced at least one week apart for practice
- Maneuverability practice
- Must bring Certificate of Completion from the online course

- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–1:00 PM
- Instruction provided in English
Certification:
Adults who complete both the on-line course and behind-the-wheel training will receive the Ohio Adult Abbreviated Certificate of Completion, which is required to retake the driving test.
Note: Failure to meet these expectations may result in a canceled lesson and a $50 no-show fee, per the Training Agreement.
